At the end of January the company Nera Pigon Grammou S.A. set a deadline for simultaneous entry into organised retail (supermarkets), small local retail and Ho.Re.Ca. outlets. This concerns the natural mineral water called ARRENA®, which comes from the Kefalóvryso spring in the Pefkófito area of Kastoria, in the regional unit of Kastoria, within the Region of Western Macedonia.
It is recalled that the majority of the company’s share capital has passed into the hands of the shipping Tsákou family, specifically to the “patriarch” Captain Panagiotis Tsákos and his son, Nikos. According to reliable information from FOODReporter, the leading role in the company’s new effort to stand upright and succeed in a competitive sector of the Greek market – namely bottled water and, in particular, natural mineral water – will be taken by Periklis Katrivanos, former commercial director at Chitos ABEE. He was selected for his extensive experience, knowledge and long‑standing involvement in the sector. FOODReporter reports that a new general meeting of shareholders is to be convened later this week in order to approve changes to the board of directors and to appoint Mr Katrivanos as a member of the renewed board in the role of chief executive officer.
Facilities of 50,000 m² and two product codes for supermarkets and catering at the end of January
The company’s bottling facilities exceed 50,000 m², with more than one production line per code. The investment cost has not yet been disclosed, but it is certainly several million euros. In any case, Nera Pigon Grammou S.A. increased its share capital on Monday 27 November 2023 by €3,426,000, following a previous increase of €1,305,000 on 25 July 2022. The share capital now totals €6,259,020, divided into 208,634 nominal shares, each with a nominal value of €30.00.
In the initial period, defined as the end of January, the commercial rollout of ARRENA® waters is planned to be simultaneous in supermarkets and catering outlets, “since the network has already been developed and agreements are in place”, according to the information. Initially there will be two codes: the 500 ml bottle of natural mineral water and the 1.5 litre bottle. It is recalled that the Tsákou family showed interest in bottling natural mineral water as early as 2017 and had to wait until the end of 2018 to obtain the right to exploit the Kefalóvryso spring, as well as the Miso to Sadi spring in the Pefkófito area of Kastoria, for the construction of a bottling plant and the necessary licensing.
